Courses and Performance Opportunities
Dance program courses include ballet, modern, and jazz technique; choreography; history; pedagogy; production; senior concert; touring dance company; and anatomy/kinesiology. In the classical technique, the Russian syllabus is emphasized as the training method. Carol Roderick serves as classical artist in residence. In the contemporary techniques, students train in a variety of modern dance styles, including Graham, Limón, Horton, Release, and also in a variety of jazz styles. The dance program offers three pedagogy courses with numerous and diverse teaching experiences. Performance and choreographic opportunities are available at CSU, including formal and informal productions, collaborations, and traveling to ACDFA festivals. Community outreach is an important part of the dance program as the CSU Tour Dance Company and the Pedagogy students regularly visit schools throughout Colorado performing and teaching.

Facilities
Currently the dance program is located on the third floor of the General Services Building. With three studios totaling over 5,000 square feet, students enjoy large spaces in which to dance. In Fall 2008/Spring 2009, the dance program will move to the new multimillion-dollar University Center for the Arts, which will offer specialized dance classrooms and studios, as well as a 200-seat performance space with a versatile design that also allows it to be used for large classes, master classes, and rehearsals. With the completion of this state-of-the-art facility, CSU's performing arts will integrate music, theatre, and dance into a unified facility.
